Well after coming down with a bad case of flintlock flu(because of the fresh snowfall) i decided to go into work a little late. I went to one of my favorite late season hunting spots. i always have a good chance of seeing deer. I set up in one of my favorite spots but something in side me told me to move to another spot and set up. I settled in at that spot and almost immediately saw deer. the first deer i saw as daylight was breaking was a good buck; having already filled my buck tag in rifle all i could do was watch him move through the cover. The morning was already going great saw a nice legal buck and i wasnt working. I then look to my left and see 2 deer approaching one worked its way on the same trail the buck had passed and didnt offer me a shot. Then the other one almost like something made it turn came my way. It worked its way to mee feeding and digging in the snow. I said to my self "20 more yards come 20 more yards" it trotted about 23 more yards and stopped behind some thick brush(funny how they always semm to do that). I watched it for about 25 mins more and it never moved. Then it turned and walked directly away from me well gameover it was heading for some thick cover and i was sure it was going to bed down and i was running short on time as i had to get some work done that day and didnt have time for a stalk. I decided my "flintlock flu" was ending and stood up then to my left it stood about 45 yards out. I sat back down took a good rest pulled the hammer back hit the set trigger the squezzed off the trigger and BOOM 245 gr powerbelt hollow point was on its way. As the smoke cleared the deer bolted but i knew the hit was good. it ran about 30 yards and crashed. I reloaded just incase and approached my animal. it was down. A quick look to the sky for thanks and a nod to the heavens to my dad my case of "flintlock flu" had run its course
this is the entry hole 245 gr powerbelt hollow point | |
