well after harvesting my bear on 11-22-2010 i was setting out to try and get a buck with the same rifle and within a half mile of the same spot i killed my bear. my wife and i left for our stands around 6 am she hunted the bottom half of the property and i took the top half. i had seen alot of bucks out of my stand in archery and knew it was a good spot. my wife had the best spot for the rifle opener many bucks have been taken from this spot and i was hopefulshe would get a chance to harvest her second buck of her hunting career. daylight came along with many shots from nieghboring properties i knew it was only a matter of time. later i saw a couple of bucks and just couldnt put enough points on them to make them legal. i was really enjoying the day when 4 bucks came running up from the bottom they were all small but the last one had 3 points up top. i thought if he stops and i can see a brow tine im going to take him well on cue he stops . i see the brow tine i settled the cross hair and BANG. the shot felt good and i knew he was hit i heard him crash in the brush below and i knew he was down a quick thanks to my late father for stopping him right where i need him to and a short track later he was mine. i went and got my son and let him track it he did a great job finding it. he hugged me after he found it and said good job dad so that makes this small buck a trophy for me and my family. pick with the kids they love deer hunting
with the warm weather i decided to take it to the butcher shop. kissed my wife and told her good luck and that i would be back. while at the butcher(the guy i always use) he said is your wife hunting i said yes and when i went to leave he said see you in a little bit when you bring your wifes buck in. i said thanks and chuckled a little. little did i know that i would be back. when i get back home the kids and i go and sit up on the hill they wanted to watch for deer and hope to hear mom shoot. they were making a little too much noise so i told them we could go for a ride and look for some deer. we rode around the block for a couple trips and even went to the play ground for a half an hour or so. i told them lets go past the house. well as we aproached the house i heard an excited call call on the radio and answered she couldnt hear me then the call button was hit. hoping for the best but fearing the worst i sped for the top of the hill so i could respond to her. when i reached the top of the hill i heard hey i got one. i asked if it was down and she sadi yes and he is big. well the kids were excited and we headed for her stand. this is what we found a happy hunter and a nice buck on the ground.
the happy family with moms deer
